The Bastille Fort: Over 200 Years of History

The Fort de la Bastille is a place rich in history and innovation. Located 476 meters above the city, at the crossroads of three Alpine valleys, this military fort, whose construction dates back to the 19th century, played a strategic role in the defense of Grenoble. Designed to protect the city from invasions, it embodies a heritage of French military architecture and is listed in the supplementary inventory of Historical Monuments.

Since then, the Bastille has continually reinvented itself. In 1934, the installation of France’s first urban cable car, one of the first in the world, connecting downtown Grenoble to the summit of the Bastille, marked a turning point in the history of the fort.

The Bastille Fort offers two unique spaces, combining historical charm and modernity: the Lesdiguières casemate and the Dutrievoz room, managed and marketed by the Grenoble-Bastille Cable Car Company.

Lesdiguières Casemate

The Lesdiguières casemate is a beautiful vaulted room made of dressed stone, capable of hosting up to 250 people.

Very bright thanks to large windows, it offers an exceptional view from its spacious panoramic terrace, overlooking the Vercors mountain range.

Its unique layout, with three vaulted spaces separated by two central pillars, makes it ideal for all types of events: conferences, group work, workshops, gala evenings, seated meals, cocktail receptions...

Dutrievoz room

The Dutrievoz room is a spacious and characterful venue, combining stone and wood, with a capacity of up to 200 people. It consists of two interconnected vaulted spaces and a reception area.

From its large exterior forecourt, in an intimate and natural setting, enjoy a panoramic view of the Belledonne mountain range. Its unique architecture and lighting create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere! The Dutrievoz room is available for rent from June to the end of September.
